SIGLATO L’ACCORDO TRA CONSERVATORIO DI AVELLINO E UNIVERSITA’ DEL MISSOURI (articolo tradotto)

 

LA MUSICA OLTRE LE FRONTIERE

È il M° Carmine Santaniello, direttore del Conservatorio Domenico Cimarosa di Avellino, a dare inizio alla conferenza stampa che si è tenuta lunedì 27 maggio presso la biblioteca dell’Istituto Musicale. Parole, quelle del M° Santaniello, di innovazione e apertura  che lasciano ben intendere e sperare.

In occasione dell’inizio degli eventi 2013, il cui primo appuntamento si è svolto il 25 maggio scorso presso l’Abbazia delle Suore Benedettine di Mercogliano (primo segno di apertura “fuori” dei confini della struttura), il Direttore presenta con orgoglio l’accordo bilaterale tra l’Istituzione avellinese e l’Università del Missouri.

L’augurio è quello che avvenga un proficuo scambio, come è già accaduto con la Cina, che consenta a docenti e allievi di arricchire le loro esperienze e la loro cultura, facendo da stimolo a nuove ambizioni.

Alla presenza degli statunitensi M° Paul Crabb, direttore delle attività orchestrali e corali dell’Università del Missouri, e M° Robert Shay, direttore della Scuola di Musica dello stesso ateneo, nonché del M° Roberto Maggio, responsabile del Programma Erasmus dell’Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali di Avellino e della studentessa Beatrice  Gargiulo che ha messo a disposizione le sue abili capacità di traduttrice,  è stato presentato l’accordo tra le istituzioni. Il Conservatorio di Avellino è il primo, o uno dei pochi , ad avere un rapporto bilaterale con un‘Università americana. Tale accordo nasce dall’entusiasmo di Maggio e Crabb  i quali, dopo anni di collaborazione per la loro attività musicale, pensarono di estendere la loro collaborazione personale anche alle istituzioni di cui fanno parte.  I rispettivi direttori accolsero, con altrettanto entusiasmo, le proposte dei due docenti e così l’accordo fu stilato. Il modello universitario americano è un modello universalmente riconosciuto; è, infatti, importantissimo avere un partner di riferimento di tale  portata per il  Conservatorio di Avellino.

 Gli studenti di entrambe le scuole potranno chiedere di frequentare un corso nell’una o nell’altra parte e, liberamente, saranno ammessi a farlo.

Oltre a motivazioni di genere personale e culturale, il M° Maggio ha voluto ricordare l’impegno morale da parte degli americani a venire ad Avellino. A seguito, infatti, del terremoto del 1980, l’Ambasciatore americano in visita nella nostra città scelse di ricostruire il Conservatorio: un regalo che oggi restituisce a chi ha donato allora, un premio di arricchimento dal punto di vista culturale.

I due Maestri Statunitensi, intervenuti alla conferenza stampa, hanno tenuto a precisare che hanno già molte collaborazioni in tutto il mondo e hanno ribadito, come già il M° Santaniello aveva precisato, quanto sia importante lo scambio interculturale ai fini della formazione e delle capacità: gli studenti danno proprio un senso diverso ai loro studi quando vanno anche all’estero.

Studiare la musica per la musica, e con musicisti e studenti, fornisce un’opportunità di imparare dagli altri per migliorare se stessi.

The press conference which took place on May 27th at the Conservatory library was opened by M° Carmine Santaniello, Director of the Conservatory Domenico Cimarosa, Avellino.

The words spoken by M° Santaniello were full of outbreak and opening and led to hopeful considerations.

The opening of the events for year 2013 took place on May 25th at the Abbey of the Benedectine Sisters located in Mercogliano – which is a first clear sign of the will to go “outside” the building and spread music. On that occasion the Director proudly showed the bilateral agreement between the Conservatory located in Avellino and the Missouri University.

The aim for the future is a fruitful exchange, as it has already happened with China, allowing teachers and students to enrich their life experiences and broaden their minds.

The bilateral agreement was presented before the American guests M° Paul Crabb, conductor and Director of the Orchestra and of Choral activities at MU, Robert Shay, Director of the School of Music at the University of Missouri and Roberto di Maggio, coordinator of the Erasmus Program of the High School of music of Avellino, thanks to the skillful Beatrice Gargiulo who helped with translation.

The Conservatory of Avellino is the first – and definitely one of the few – signing a bilateral agreement with an American university. The agreement is the result of Maggio and Crabb’s enthusiasm who, after years of cooperation in the music field, decided to broaden their cooperation by involving the institutions they belonged to; therefore, having such an relevant partner is extremely important for the Conservatory of Avellino.

The students of both schools will have the chance to fill in an application form in order to attend a year in the other school and they will be admitted automatically.

During the meeting, M° Maggio also reminded of the Americans’ commitment towards Italy. Indeed, after 1980 earthquake, the Conservatory was rebuilt thanks to the economical support of the American Ambassador visiting Avellino: a gift returning now, from the cultural point of view, all the efforts made by who donated in the past.

During the press conference, the two American Directors highlighted that they have agreements with institutions from all over the world and stressed the importance of the intercultural exchange in order to grow up as a person and as a professional: each student gives and takes something different from this experience abroad, but they always come back enriched.

Studying music with other students and other musicians, in the name of love for music, gives the chance to learn from the others and become better people.
